After a long wait, the second round of edits arrived from the publishers of the short-story anthology that will print “A Single Touch.” Surprisingly enough, the edits were pretty minor. I’m pleased!
I already made the edits. Now all that remains …is for me to double-check to make sure I changed everything and to do a last read-through. I have to admit I’m not looking forward to that last task. I loved the story when I wrote it … the characters seemed “real” to me; I maintained my faith as I submitted it to publishers; I even enjoyed re-reading as I made my first round of edits.
But now, I’ve read it so many times that the story’s lost some of its sheen for me. I guess I’ll hope for positive comments from the new reading audience that’s about to rise up and demand more stories about two sisters — one who makes her living with phone sex and the other who’s an empath — and the private detective who loves them.
At least that’s the way it works in my imagination. 🙂
